It's been a constant battle lately,(this week especially) to get up and get to work, not because I am lazy or unproductive, but because it's one of those days when I just feel unmotivated and feel "perhaps and nevertheless", I mean I don't even know why I feel the way I feel.
So Yesterday, I decided to get back to work despite it all, said a prayer, and do the things I love which included sewing, so I picked up this fabric called the "Sample Net", I remember purchasing this fabric around my house, I loved it so I purchased it without having particular style in mind for it.
Mom wouldn't stop talking about how much she loved the color and fabrics, so I decided to make something beautiful for her, though the fabrics were mine initially, if it will make Mom happy, why not? since she loves very free wear, I thought of making something simple for her, just to get me back in the mood to work and to serve as a beautiful distraction from my mood.
The materials I used were just.
Trimmings
Fabrics
Feathers
Matching thread
I proceeded to cut, I placed my mom's measurements on the fabrics, and then cut.
It was a straight cut, using my mom's hip measurement as the width of the fabric and then, I marked out her bust measurement, waist and hip, and the full length.
The neckline was just a round cut, should I call it a canoe shoulder? Something like that.
The sleeve was cut together, so there was no need to mark out an armhole, I only measured 10 inches away from the shoulder slanted down.
There was no need for a zipper since it was a free outfit.
So the front and the back were the same thing.
Here you find me holding the feathers and the pieces of the fabric already cut about to be sewn.
I went ahead to my sewing machine to join them together and then I used the trimmings to make a beautiful neckline and placed the feathers in the sleeves using my machine.
This was what it looked like after sewing, no after seeing this, I felt a bit happy knowing I had a productive day at least, that was all I did yesterday, then I slammed in the music and dance away.
And then I realized that a way to beat the feeling of being unmotivated is to do something you enjoy doing, the beginning might feel tiring but trust me before you finish that project, you'll start to feel productive and motivated again.
The utmost joy came from seeing my mom happy with the outfit, she couldn't wait to fit it, I had to plead with her to allow me to take a shot of it at least which she agreed.
Now, I think I will get back to work by Monday since Today is Friday, It's for fabrics sourcing and replacing any used fashion items in my outlet.
I can't wait to finish up all the projects I had procrastinated sewing over the week because of this goddamn mood.馃樄馃樄
I'm fine now though and thanks for reading.
All images used are mine, cut and sewn by me.
