Hello Beautiful People..
It's an amazing new week, have you reaffirmed the best of the weeks yet? Have you set your mind to achieve whatever you hope to?
I believe in starting off a new day and a new week with so much positivity as it has a way of making things fall in place, success comes from the mind..yeah it does.
Since it's a new week, I decided to share with you the white butterfly dress I made for Mama Ade who lives next door.
Some people just have a special place in your heart and in all honesty they steal your heart by the little things they do.
Mama Ade is a mom of four beautiful girls, but sadly her husband left her because she didn't bear him a son and life has been hellish for her, one thing I admire about Mama Ade is never wearing her problems on her sleeve, I have never caught mama Ade wearing a frown or being mean to people, she is always calm and kind.
Mama Ade occasionally calls me to tell me that even though her marriage turned out the way it is, she still believe there are good men out there and many other marriages are still blissful, she kept telling me how she believed that one day, her husband will come back to his senses, but until then she'll win him over with being kind despite his ill treatment.
Mama Ade is in her late forties but she doesn't look it one bit, she's so strong, and vibrant, there's never a dull moment with Mama Ade.
Last week Friday, Mama Ade broke the news to me that her first child named Adeola who is just 17 won a scholarship to a renowned University in my country and it is indeed a thing of joy.
I couldn't help but celebrate with her because she deserves all the good things coming to her, she managed to sort her daughter's outfit for her matriculation but hers was pending.
I too on the other hand wasn't buoyant to get a fabric for her because of the high rate of things right now, so I reached out to my mom who has unsewed fabrics in her box, mom was so kind to let go of her white dry lace so that I can make Mama Ade something for her to rock to her child's matriculation.
I observe mama Ade to be a very simple woman who is always on maxi dresses or kaftans so I concluded it was her favorite piece of clothing.
Since it was meant to be a surprise, I didn't ask her what style she would love to rock, so I just made her a white butterfly dress.
This fabric is called a dry lace and it doesn't need much to make an outfit, most times all you'll need is just your sewing machine and a few applique if you so desire.
I made the sequin in form of just an A-line cut with a U-neckline, simple and straight to the point
I also have a sequn fabric I remained after making a boubou for myself months ago, so I thought of using the left over sequin to make an inner dress for the butterfly dress as it has holes to see through.
Then, I move to the white dress, make her a boubou which looked so much like a butterfly dress, I wore it over the sequin singlet and it gave this effect
I'm sure you noticed the glitter coming from the sequin.
So here's the full picture of Mama Ade's gift, although I'll be handing it to her this evening.
I can't wait to see the excitement on her face and I honestly wish her the best and hope she continues to conquer life with a positive attitude.
All images used are mine, cut and sewn by me.
