I didn't get to start work immediately after my university education. Infact it took me five years before I start work and this was actually my own doing. After my wedding which happened while serving as a youth corper I decided to take my time to nurture my young family. Nevertheless i was running an online business which gave me just enough to cater for my needs.

When I eventually decided to put my certificate to work, I landed a high paying job in an investment immigration company as a relationship manager. The job was everything that I dreamt of because as a young girl I have always wanted to work in one of the skyscrapers in the city of Lagos. The company occupies the 13th, 14th and 15th floor of the skyscraper and going to work in that exquisite environment was a dream come true.
In the job, I was tested above my limit and the pressure was out of this world. Nonetheless it broadened my mind to the possibilities of life which many people never perceived , believed and experienced. I got to access the wealthiest of the wealthiest and do everything within my power to bring them to the office for an appointment. It was a very difficult task because a wealthy man will rather give you money than his time. Time is their most precious possession and the city of Lagos even made it more difficult. We don't only get to bring them to the office but it's our duty to convince them to buy our services worth $165,000 to $330,000.
The job made me to believe in abundance. This was even the watch word of the MD of the company as he stressed that there shall never be poverty or lack among us. He goes a long way to put it into action by increasing the salaries of all the employers twice every year. He didn't stop at that he also emphasized that no member of his staff will ever be left behind. He pays hospital bills of highly complicated cases of his staffs and some he flew abroad for good medical care. Though the company was very strict on it's rules and regulations and have zero tolerance to defaulting, it's still a very much concerned for the wellbeing of it's staff. They offer the best HMO and also subsidized i- fitness gym for all it's members to 30k yearly instead of 250k.
This company taught me to live in abundance and never let my mind limit me. It thought me to show compassion to others that need help and go the extra mile for them. I learnt the act of giving without looking back or expecting anything in return from this company. It also taught me that no matter how rich I become in life I should consider God first. They dedicated the first Saturdays of every month for Thanksgiving where singing and dancing onto God was the order of the day.
I left the company because I was gradually losing myself and depression was setting in as I couldn't keep up to the demands. It was a hard decision to take but I have to for the sake of my children. Being a working mother comes with a lot of sacrifices but not to the detriment of my children's well being. They needed me focused and mentally sound to take care of them.
If I get the opportunity to go back to the company, I will definitely do so but will rather choose a different position/ role. This will enable me to have the time and sanity to attend to other important areas of my life.
