To make it a place where:
Race does not matter.
Gender does not matter.
Religious affiliation does not matter.
Sexual affiliation does not matter.
Socio-economic status does not matter.
How you identify does not matter.
The only thing that matters...is you.
Every single one of you. All of us, joining together.
To become we.
Think of the power in that...
The power of we...
We could break down all of the barriers that keep us apart.
We could learn that we're not so different, that the things that separate us are not nearly as powerful as those that bring us together.
By doing so,
We could overcome hate.
We could overcome discrimination.
We could overcome cyberbullying.
We could save our children by loving ourselves and one another.
We can show them there is a better way, by creating a better way.
I get the cynicism. After all, look at the world we live in, right?
You go on Facebook and see arguments, hateful comments, children and adults alike picking on one another, all trying to prove they're better than another person, that they're the only ones right.
Twitter is a world divided. A world where even if you aren't on one side or another, you're still wrong.
YouTube videos glorify violence and anger. Children are filming other children fighting in the streets.
And on and on and on.
All it takes is a choice to be the change we want to see.
And when we come together on one platform that believes in the hope we are so desperately clinging to, imagine what a force we would be.
A couple days ago, I found out that platform exists. I learned that there are people with the knowledge and more importantly, the dream and the vision to make it come to fruition.
The values of ONO in a nutshell: treat people like you would like to be treated.
But it's up to us to make sure it happens.
Each one of us, every person reading this right now, has a choice.
Do you want to go on doing the same thing every day? Turning a blind eye to the hate that's all around us? Or worse, suffering in silence because you don't have a voice (or are too scared to use it)?
Or do you want to choose to better yourself by joining with others that want to make the world a better place?
I know my choice.
