Prepare for Litecoin Hard Fork
Hello. I hope this tutorial helps you with preparing for the Hard Fork.
A few things before we start
• Protect your backup seed/private keys always…ALWAYS…ALWAYS!
• Never leave your private keys on your computer…be sure to write them down with pen and paper.
• If you haven’t watched my Litecoin Hard Fork video, watch it now so you understand what is actually going to happen on Sunday.
Download a new Litecoin wallet
The very best way to hold coins during the fork where you know you'll have control of the keys is to use a desktop Litecoin wallet such as Litecoin Core or Jaxx.
Jaxx will probably be the easiest because Litecoin Core wallet needs to sync up with the blockchain which can take hours or days depending on your internet connection.
Instructions for Jaxx
- Get a pen or a piece of paper
- Download Jaxx from the appstore or go to Jaxx.
- Install the wallet on your phone or computer
- Click continue for the end user agreement
- Click Accept on the next screen
- Click to create New Wallet
- Choose Custom or Advanced…(at the time of doing this tutorial the mobile and the desktop versions were different.)
- Choose Litecoin LTC wallet from the list then click continue
- Check the box that says Yes I understand. Write down your 12 word back up phrase. This is your private key phrase and no one should ever have access to it but you.
- Click next and type in your 12 words.
- Click the box that says Yes I understand how a pin works and click next
- Choose your pin on the screen keypad and the confirm on the next screen
- Your LTC wallet is now created.
- Send about $5 to your new Jaxx LTC wallet you just created.
- After it confirms, send the rest of your LTC to this wallet.
- Wait until Monday or Tuesday and I will explain to you the steps to Move your LTC back to wallet to where you were keeping it and then claim your LTC cash.
