Gridcoin is an incentive mechanism for the distributed computing software BOINC. As of January 2018 Gridcoin is responsible for incentivizing 28% of BOINC computations. These contributions are primarily used by scientists and universities, giving them access to a decentralized supercomputer to help with projects.
