Earlier today a friend of mine called me a 'Jack of all trades'. I smirked while he kept talking realizing that he had a good point😅.

Here’s a little proof of awesomeness from the recent @hivenaija (Hive Nigeria) physical meetup I attended

I mean i'm not tom cruise but being a Musician, Engineer, Athlete, Blogger, Farmer and a pretty decent cook has to attract some bonus points doesn't it?
But that’s enough bragging for now day I guess…

However, on a good day i would chose to pick up my guitar over a wrench, a tennis ball or some seeds and ploughs (That's how much i love my music).

Don't worry, this is not a mistaken post, we're getting to the good stuff now

How i met hive

You know how it's like when there's something you know you should be doing or should have done but somehow you haven't brought yourself to do it yet?

That was exactly my story with Hive. Hold on though, it might not be what you're thinking... Maybe it is a little, but hear me out first.

I found myself in a terrible situation at that time. My dad was dying and being completely dependent I had no money coming in and so my equity was trash(dead broke). Didn't know much about crypto and DAOs and whatnot.

I managed to keep myself busy by posting videos on my instagram page where i got some engagements, participated in prompts and also got connections for some gigs. I also did some some food supply jobs that took half my day most times.

Steemit

Although this is not a post about impactful friendships, my Hive story is one of such.

My day one buddy and bro @ebingo told me about a contest in a music community that existed on a kind of site where i could earn crypto for participation.

He was talking about the Steemit openmic weekly contest

That was something I simply could not say no to. Most people come to hive only looking for a source of income at first before later get an understanding of a better mindset to keep, and the former was my only interest at the time.

With Ebingo's help i was able to learn more than i ever would on my own(I still bug him for explanations till date of course)

A memorable moment for me was when openmic week 113 contest. The price was about 80 steem and i managed to win once more and place a few more times.

After steemit went to hell i felt sad. Haven failed to plan my finances, i was back to square one.

What next?

I had to get back to school after a while away due to some personal troubles.

I'm currently a student of Federal university Otuoke where i am studying to be a Structural Engineer. It was here i heard about Hive about a year ago from @ebingo still.

I knew i should've got in early enough but i had put down my guitar for some time and was no longer in the mood for any of that, besides, i was so into my schooling and didn't need any distractions (as I thought). Still it was tough and i know i don't want to be through with school only to join the endless line of underpaid Nigerian graduates, no, not me.

It took me a while but last year in November i joined Hive and though i didnt make my first post till December, I've had an amazing time here since then.

I took the time from when i signed up to when i made my first post to analyze system and try to get a hold of how the ecosystem works, and with my little steemit knowledge it all came together in a way.

I knew i was going to be making mostly music content.

@ebingo encouraged me to check out @openmic @music @qsounds @soundmusic and to engage with users often while at it.

Benefits of hive

Hive has given me a brighter hope for the future
Hive has helped me get more organized
Hive has helped me become a better optimizer
Hive has expanded my crypto knowledge
Hive has made me a better musician
Hive has taught me a lot about finances and financial planning
Hive motivates me everyday
Hive helped me pick up my guitar and sing out once again

I could really go on but that list would be too long i think, you get the idea by now so i'll leave it this way.

My next step?

My journey on hive continues with a new turn with my application to the #newbie initiative by @starstrings01
