Here in Maramures village Museum, second part, located on Doboies Hill, 3 km from the centre of Sighetu Marmatiei, at the exit to Vadu Izei, Romania at the border to Ukraine on a territory with the historical province of Maramures more than 30 traditional hauses.
As soon as we have entered through the monumental, specifically Maramuresean gate, we feel in an old world, with the smell of freshly grass and old wood, each house telling a story about old times and people who lived with simplicity and faith.
In the background the wooden church built in the 16th century.
The museum is included in the ICOM and UNESCO networks.
Most houses are dated with engraved inscriptions in wood during the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
