驴Sabes cu谩ntas veces utilic茅 tus apuntes?
Si solo me hubieses hecho caso, si solo no hubieses venido aquella noche.

Night was falling over the city; darkness slowly blanketed every corner鈥攖he perfect setting for secrets to emerge and nightmares to roam freely. Ana was heating up leftovers from the day before; resting on the table beside her keys was a small note: I know what you did.
Despite being filled with terror, Ana鈥檚 face betrayed no emotion; her blue eyes looked like glass, and her lips held no expression other than resignation at the terrible meal she was about to eat鈥攁 choice made simply to avoid cooking again. If there was one thing Ana hated, it was wasting food.
"I hate cold food," Ana said, sitting down at the table.
As she chewed a piece of meat with evident weariness, she picked up the note, read it, and a faint smile played on her lips.
"Of course you know what I did," she said aloud, and the words sparked a stream of spoken thoughts.
Of course you know; you鈥檝e always been there. You remember our first year, you remember when we worked together. I hated the blood and the hospital鈥擨 almost fainted the first time I had to touch a corpse鈥攂ut you... you helped me get past all that. I owe you so much, in both my personal and professional life.
Ana glanced at the medical degree hanging on the wall and sighed. "You were there when that idiot abandoned me and vanished鈥攚as that the first sign? Did you know it even then?" Ana continued, speaking to her imaginary listener. "I don't think so. Even though you were the smartest girl in the class, writing that note in your own handwriting was a really stupid move. Did you think I wouldn't recognize it? Do you know how many times I used your notes?"
Ana let out a laugh, and for the first time, her eyes lit up with the memory of her youth; yet, an instant later, her expression reverted to the blankness that so defined her. As her best friend Natalia used to say: "Ana, we should play poker; your face never gives anything away."
Ana鈥檚 monologue continued, though this time she was genuinely thinking about how much she had loved Natalia.
"Natalia, Natalia," Ana sighed. "Don't think I鈥檓 not afraid; don't think I don't have feelings. Of course that note you wrote hurt me鈥擨 loved you so much, Natalia鈥攂ut you were always meddling in other people's business. You always had to look out for me鈥攁t school and in my life. If only you had listened to me... if only you hadn't come over that night."
Ana swallowed hard and kept eating and talking, her face as expressionless as ever. It was an endless monologue of blaming Natalia. Every now and then, she would pause to drink some water, swallow, and resume speaking.
A crunching sound echoed between Ana鈥檚 molars, and a metallic taste flooded her mouth. Using her thumb and index finger, she pulled a piece of metal from between her teeth and examined it, at first not recognizing it, then letting the memories come flooding back. "I remember when you got that piercing; you鈥檝e always had a really tacky side, Natalia. I never liked that part of you," Ana laughed, setting the earring aside and continuing to chew.
