People often confuse uncertainty with infinity. We know that someday we're going to die, but that's fuzzy and unclear and so we don't really know when, and as a result we act and live as if our life is unlimited. But it's not.
If you would know exactly how much time you have left to live, you would not waste a single second.
A bad news from your doctor, quickly helps one to realize there is an actual countdown timer to this earthly presence, and sadly that's when people start living their lives.
Interesting enough, we never get to regret the future, but only the past, and that's because the future didn't happen yet. But that's the great news, with your actions now you can make it regret-free later.
So a smart approach is to live your life in a way that you're not going to have later regrets.
**OK, but how do you stop wasting time? **Well first you have to begin with a healthy attitude towards time.
Time is not money! Time is life currency you always spend, but you can never earn back! So many people try to save money but keep wasting their time...
Stop thinking killing time is cute or sexy, it's not. It's actually pretty dumb and stupid.
Wasting time happens because the very passage of time is invisible to us. We have watches on our wrist but we are not tracking our life we're tracking our actions. Am I late to the meeting? How much time do I have to get there? When are you going to come back, and so on.
Stay aware and connected with the passage of time. For example you can set your smartphone or your watch to make a beeping sound every hour.
When you hear the sound ask yourself:
You need to audit the way you spend your time and then use it for something more productive or meaningful. Not wasting time starts by doing something useful with it, so pick a worthy goal.
Word of advice. We live our lives with our eyes wide open but we cannot see what's really in front of us because our mind eyes are closed.
Don't settle for just reading this with your eyes, open your mind and get the message because that's where the real transformation happens. You need to do something with it.
Also, opening your mind can be tricky because it's a temporary state. You might get a glimpse, you might understand something and think -oh, I just opened my eyes now, I understand something new, but then later to realize that you just went back to sleep. The tricky thing about your mind being asleep is that you don't know exactly when you're going to wake up, if ever.
That's why, when you hear something that makes sense for you, it's very important to capitalize on it as fast as possible. Set it in your calendar, set an alarm, a reminder, take some action, create an anchor that even if you forget about it, you are somehow going to remember it later.
The real trap in here is that people think that reading, understanding an idea, getting perspective is enough. It's not! Knowledge means nothing unless you use it to transform your life.
Feeling smarter doesn't mean you are better unless you take action, because being better comes from doing better. They are linked. You cannot have one without the other.
In the end I will let you with this. Go on the internet, find out and research what's the average human life expectancy. That's right, you got it? Perfect!
Now from that, extract your current age, got that too? Fantastic! If the result is positive it means you are young, if the result is with minus it means you're lucky.
No matter the case stop wasting your life because I promise you, you're going to regret it later.
