There is a lot of bad thinking out there, but one of the worst ideas is that you should not change your mind. Ever.

Since we were kids we were brainwashed into believing that changing your mind is bad because you're not reliable or people cannot trust you.

If you would do it enough, you would quickly be labeled as unpredictable, as if the best thing you could do is a human being is to be predictable. No wonder robots are coming for our jobs.

People who wanted to control others, always used this tactics to manipulate and make people conform to their wishes, while giving them in return empty labels like "reliable" or "trustworthy". If you're giving away your power at least you should get a label that means nothing in return, just to make you feel good and continue the behavior.

But for the few people that managed to wake up and break the spell they quickly realized that one of the most important abilities humanist had since the beginning of time that allowed us to survive to our environment no matter what challenges we faced was the ability to adapt and that means also to change your mind. Changing your mind is nothing more than adapting the way you see the world. Changing your views and your actions.

And the reason changing your mind is natural is because things change situation changes people change and you need to adapt to all of that change by also changing yourself changing the way you think and changing how you see the world.

Usually the people who are left behind are the ones who are not able to adapt to whatever is changing.

Now with all of that said changing your mind can still be good or bad depending on how you do it. This process should not be limited by what other people think of you but if the ideas that you're about to adopt are somehow better or superior in any way then the ones that you're currently holding.

In other words, it's good to adopt better ideas and it's a bad to adopt worse ideas.
Upwards flexibility and downwards resistance is a concept that your mind should be opened to improved thinking and should be resistant to poor thinking.

The biggest problem with the way we make decisions, and sometimes the reason why we feel compelled to change our mind against the social norm, is that we tend to make decisions under pressure and often with limited information. Good decisions required two things: enough data or relevant information, and enouh time to process and integrate that information. Good decisions come from good understanding, which is a rare commodity in our fast-paced lives.

What's even worse is that rash decisions, are seen as great human attributes, similar to determination, being decisive, bold, knowing what you want, and other meaningless labels.

Of course whoever dares to resist the social norm and risk even to be ridiculed for being a slow, indecisive, hesitant human, they usually get great results in the long term. But not many are able to do that.

For me personally, I found that the best decisions I made were not the ones I made on a specific day, or at specific time but the ones after some time has passed, even at the cost of changing my mind
