Asking questions is one of the most powerful ways to a deeper understanding, asking better questions is maybe the only way to unlock the greatest mysteries of the Universe.
Today as I was browsing Reddit, I saw many people searching for answers, but they don't know how to ask the right questions, or at least how not to ask the wrong questions.
And that turns out to be key because it seems to me that we are not able to ask the right questions because we adopt views, beliefs, and modes of thinking that compel us to ask the wrong questions.
If it doesn't make sense yet, stay with me, and before I'm going to share with you a few actual examples I found.
As I'm going to share some examples I found, you're going to notice there are three main categories of mistakes people do when asking questions.
Questions that hide statements that somebody else drilled into their head.
"How do I stop being so judgmental towards others and radiating negativity?"
"How can I stop being so narcissistic and stop caring about others more?"
"How do I stop being racist, sexist and homophobic?"
Can you see how they speak about themselves using somebody else's words?
Questions coming from a lack of clarity around a certain concept.
"How do I stop being in my head?"
Answer: What do you mean by that?
Questions coming from holding a certain belief, about yourself.
"I'm a 20-year-old late bloomer and about to lose my first job. I think I've poorly adapted as an adult, how can I even begin to fix my poor adulting skills?"
"I come across as cocky, and have no idea how to fix it".
Answer: Well, it depends who told you that; maybe you are cocky but again maybe you're not and you're spending your time around shitty people. It all depends.
But making a good decision to fix yourself should always come after you have audited who is feeding you with this information. You evaluate the source before you change yourself.
"How do I build confidence based on my appearance?"
Answer: Why do you believe self-confidence should be built based on one's appearance?
"How to cope with being a loser?"
This is a very loaded one.
The answer is simple: why do you think coping is the right action here? ; why do you believe that you ARE a loser, maybe you just feel like one -there is a big difference.
Questions with simple direct answers, where the answer is usually: you just do it/ or you stop doing it.
"How do I start waking up early?"
"How to accept my appearance?"
"How not to be a control freak in life?"
Looking at the questions above, it looks to me that our problems are created by the way we think about things.
Adopting a certain view or belief about our own life creates a unique set of problems that then we feel compelled to go out and search for answers or solutions to -forgetting that we also hold the keys to the very problems we just created.
However, where things go astray is that we create problems internally and we look for solutions externally. And of course, when the key doesn't match the lock, we get confused.
Asking questions is good, but make sure that you are asking better questions, otherwise the right answers will never show up.
