let's talk about the places around the world where living is like a nightmare where breathing is a risk and where people pray every morning to stay alive till evening.
First, let's talk about a city in Russia, Norilsk which is considered one of the most polluted and isolated places on earth. Located in Siberia's icy region the city experiences extreme cold with temperatures dropping up to -50 degrees Celsius. However the real problem is not the cold but the toxic air that surrounds the city.
Norilsk is a major center for nickel and metal mining which is also the cause of its downfall. The factories and industries here emit so much smoke 24/7 that the entire city is covered in a gray haze. The air is filled with sulfur dioxide making it impossible for trees to grow leaving only barren land and trees visible and the people.
Respiratory diseases are common among children here. The city's atmosphere is so gloomy and oppressive that the residents live under constant stress. For almost two months a year the sun doesn't rise and the surroundings are filled with darkness and toxic smoke. People stay here only because the salaries are slightly higher than the rest of Russia due to the mining industry.
Next city is La Rincon Ada known as the highest inhabited city in the world. It is located at an altitude of approximately 17,000 feet above sea level. At such a high altitude oxygen levels are so low that an average person can faint just by walking a few steps.
But why do people live here For just one thing and that is gold. Yes this mountain has gold reserves and it's this greed that has brought humans to this hellhole. La Rinconada has no government system no police and the most frightening thing is that there is no sewage system at all.
More than 50,000 people live in this small area where garbage filth and human waste are spread everywhere. Due to the cold the waste freezes and the entire city has turned into a stinking garbage dump.
Now we head to the African country of Ghana where there's an area known as the electronic graveyard. This place is called Agbogbloshie. The expensive smartphones laptops and TVs that you discard after use or the old technology that's thrown away as waste in Europe and America, ends up here.
It looks like a junkyard but in reality it's a boiling river of poison. Thousands of poor people including a large number of small children live here. They burn electronic waste to extract copper and other metals. When plastic rubber and computer wires are burned they release carcinogenic smoke that's extremely hazardous to health.
Now we head to a city that's not a jungle but a human settlement where the law of the jungle would be ashamed. This is the city known as one of the most dangerous slums in the world. It's a place of filth and crime that would make humanity crumble.
There's no government here and the police dare not enter. The entire area is controlled by gangs that constantly fight each other. Walking through the streets is like walking on thin ice. The drains are open and people live in shanties amidst piles of garbage. Electricity and clean water are just a dream here.
The situation is so dire that when food was scarce, people started making biscuits with mud salt and vegetable oil just to fill their stomachs. Imagine the desperation that drives humans to eat mud. Hospitals are almost non existent and those that exist are filled with people wounded by gunshots. Diseases are rampant here amidst the sounds of gunfire and piles of garbage.
