Hot breath was coming out of each other's face. They were silent, getting closer.
All of a sudden, at the last minute, Max pulled away. "I'm sorry," she said lamely, "I've never done anything like this before.""Um," Max said, "it's alright, I just don't need any more partners." Her face was red."No, it's not that," Max said, "I'm um... you see... only the last time I ever kissed someone was in Kindergarten. You could say I never liked to date or kiss lots of people back. You were my first kiss ever, and I'm sorry, I'm too embarrassed. Maybe we should just stop.""Why do you keep saying you're sorry Max?" Kristin said. "We should do this again sometime." She blew her head off, and put out her hand for Max to shake.
Max shook it, "Well um... do you mind if the next time we kiss it is on your terms?"Kristin giggled and nodded. They both put their arms around each other and hugged, kissing again and again.
They were still standing face-to-face, holding each other.Kristin broke the kiss first, and ran off into the hallway for their cabins. Max was running after her, kissing along the way, thinking that kissing Kristin was a lot of fun.
"But... you're as old as my mom!" Max said."That's a lie!" Kristin said, "My mom is thirty-eight, she only looks that old because she has wrinkles now.""Oh," Max said softly, "mind if I kiss you again, on my own terms?"Kristin looked her in the eyes, loving the fact that Max was that old. Max looked
down, blushing, and said something only hush-hush to Kristin. "Is
that.... okay... mr. Kristin?"Kristin's eyes bulged out, then she put her hand over her mouth to catch her laughter. She tossed her head back and started to laugh. Max blushed an even darker crimson as she grabbed at Kristin's waist and pulled her close. Kristin encircled Max's waist before nearly being pulled down.
They were now face to face. "You're my wife Max!" Kristin whispered loudly. "Oh yes, I'm your wife. I can tell you that right now."Max dug her hands in Kristin's hair, and started to kiss her. "Who can say I received a kiss like this when I married so many years ago? A far cry from the kisses I had with others in my years," she said softly, and Kristin nodded, staying for Max.
"And that's how we met, you know," Max said. Kristin cocked her head to the side,
thinking it over.
"I'll meet women," Kristin said. "I'll meet all sorts of women it." They were both
waiting for the other to say something, but neither of them did.
Max slipped her hand in Kristin's sweatpants. "We're still young enough that we can still make our own bed and know how to make it."Max smiled at her.
"Many years down the road," Max said. "When we send our children to bed, we'll be holding hands, still, it'll be quiet in the room, but the kids will be sound asleep. We'll lie in bed and kiss each other. In the end, it'll be a date, I'll tell my children that Kristin was my first, my only, the other kisses I had were some at school reunions after high-school and such."
Kristin was starting to get a bit of a headache.
The following day they were heading into the woods by the lake. Everyone was dressed in summer dresses and shorts.
They walk in a circle, Max still holding Kristin's hand. "But I'll bring you along for the first date, and give my children their first kiss by their mom, it'll be so romantic."
"I think you're doing a good job," Kristin said. "They sound like a great bunch of kids, and they're well behaved. I like them. I love them." They both smiled at each other.
"What about you?" Max said. "You don't have kids. You're not married. You don't even have a boyfriend!""Why, have you got one?" Kristin asked, laughing. "Not that I don't hope so!" She laughed again, and Max smiled."Well... I don't know," Max said. "If you want me to make you some drinks, I can..."
