One evening, while we were out for a walk in the city, two stray kittens and their mother tagged along with us.
They had absolutely no shame about it: they stuck close to our heels, never falling behind, and meowed at us the whole way, clearly trying to tell us something very important.
That’s how we ended up at the nearest supermarket. That’s when it became clear that this whole musical performance had a purpose: these clever little creatures knew exactly what they wanted.
We bought them some food and took it outside. They ate it right there on the corner of the supermarket. And we carried on with our walk — a little poorer, but with the pleasant feeling that we had just been expertly recruited for someone else’s dinner.
