I tried a viral hack for my phone case

Hace muchísimo tiempo busque como hacer que el forro de mi celular volviera a verse limpio ya que con el tiempo paso de ser un forro transparente a un forro color nicotina y mugre, asi se ve, es un color muy feo y desagradable. Pero por desgracia en ese tiempo descubrí que no se puede quitar estas manchas de ninguna manera, asi que la única solución podría ser pintarlo con papel crepe, ya he hecho algunas cosas anteriormente con papel crepe y resultaron bastante bien asi que quise probar nuevamente.

A long time ago, I looked into how to make my phone case look clean again, since over time it had gone from being a clear case to one stained with nicotine and grime—that’s what it looks like, and it’s a really ugly, unpleasant color. But unfortunately, at that time I discovered that there’s no way to remove these stains, so the only solution might be to paint it with crepe paper. I’ve done a few things with crepe paper before and they turned out pretty well, so I wanted to try it again.

Asi que se supone que primero deberías tomar mucho papel crepe del color que quieras, la verdad no tenia mucho (al menos de los colores que me gustan) solo tenia un trozo de rosa y un poco mas de azul claro, asi que decidí usarlos ambos para crear un lindo morado que es mi color favorito, a pesar de no tener mucho tenia bastante fe porque el papel crepe suele manchar demasiado aunque sea poco.

So, you’re supposed to start by gathering plenty of crepe paper in whatever color you want. To be honest, I didn’t have much (at least not in the colors I like)—I only had a piece of pink and a little more light blue—so I decided to use both to create a pretty shade of purple, which is my favorite color. Even though I didn’t have much, I was pretty confident because crepe paper tends to bleed a lot, even if it’s just a little.

Place the crepe paper in a bowl while you boil some water.

Cuando el agua este hirviendo colocar encima del papel crepe, realmente no sabia que cantidad de agua colocar asi que no puse mucha para que el color fuese intenso, enseguida el papel crepe comenzó a soltar color y convertirse en un hermoso tono morado muy vibrante justo como quería.

When the water was boiling, I placed the crepe paper on top. I wasn't really sure how much water to use, so I didn't add too much to ensure the color would be intense. Right away, the crepe paper began to release its color and turn into a beautiful, vibrant shade of purple—just as I wanted.

Y metí, el forro de mi celular dejándolo sumergido aproximadamente 1 hora.

And I put my phone case in there and left it submerged for about an hour.

Asi fue como quedo realmente jajaja fue demasiado decepcionante ya que vi muchos videos donde si salía bien pero el mío me atrevo a decir que incluso salió PEOR de lo que estaba antes ya que le salieron unas manchas horribles detrás que no se que es, lo intente limpiar con una esponja dura y jabón pero ahí sigue la mancha, no se si fue el calor del agua hirviendo quizás mi forro se estaba derritiendo o no sé, pero quedo horrible, ni siquiera tomo un leve color morado NADA. Quiero pensar que fue porque use muy poco papel crepe quizás ese fue mi error… Porque aun pienso en tanta gente que vi que le salió bien en internet y me da mucha rabia que a me quedo tan mal.

That’s exactly how it turned out, hahaha. It was so disappointing because I watched a lot of videos where it turned out fine, but I’d go so far as to say mine turned out WORSE than it was before—it has these horrible stains on the back that I don’t know what they are. I tried cleaning it with a rough sponge and soap, but the stain is still there. I don’t know if it was the heat from the boiling water—maybe my lining was melting or something—but it turned out awful. It didn’t even take on a slight purple tint—NOTHING. I want to think it was because I used too little crepe paper—maybe that was my mistake… Because I still think about all the people I saw online who got it right, and it really makes me mad that mine turned out so bad.
