Hello friends, today I come with another illustration following that semi-realistic touch that I did in the previous one, this time a little less detailed, these last days I have been obsessed with drawing as you have no idea, that's why I have been a bit absent, but I almost have list my collection that for now will deal with 4 drawings of which 3 are already ready.
For this drawing, I wanted to try the same theme that included flowers, but a different element like water, but I didn't want to make normal water, but water with a darker green tone including branches, flowers, leaves floating around the face of a girl.
This idea looked very good in my mind, but when I executed it I had the mistake of not trusting the process and I got discouraged, the more I painted the less I liked it, but after taking a good part of the advanced drawing, I just decided to continue and pray for a nice result, I think that in the end I liked it, maybe it's not my favorite
Proceso/Process
I started a very simple sketch, a face without so much detail, since her whole body was supposed to be hidden by this dense water that I planned to paint later, I arranged the sketch in 3 different layers until I had a well-structured face and although I felt that it looked very flat, I reassured myself knowing that with lights and shadows it would have volume, then I began to apply the base tones throughout the drawing using the diffuse brush as always.
After placing each color in its place, it was time to give more details, starting with the eyes and expanding throughout the face, subtly mixing each color with another to give shape to this drawing, even though I had painted his entire neck, then I realized that it didn't make much sense so I painted it with green tones of the water on top, covering it a little so that it looks like she is drowning in this water and that only her face is the one that comes up.
Next I added a water foam like texture, even though it looked “okay” at this point, I decided to change all the lighting on the drawing, I felt like it had too much light and I wanted something more opaque, so I adjusted the exposure and the brightness to continue giving details to the face that still had things to fix, use the liquefy tool several times to modify the structure of the face a little and also highlight the eyes and mouth applying there, a more vivid color that makes it stand out among all the opacity of the image.
Now with a very dark tone, almost black, I began to draw makeup falling from her eyes, I gave more lights to some parts of the face such as the nose, cheekbones and lips.
Draw flowers, branches and petals around which I gave them detail little by little, continue adding a texture in the water drops adding a bit of blur to the image so that it highlights his face even more.
Finally I added a couple of drops on his face and gave more depth to the drawing by increasing the saturation a bit.
It is very difficult to explain everything I did to get to the final result, I really used a lot of layers and color adjustments so that every detail made sense and that I was finally satisfied with something that started badly, but as always, you have to trust the process.
