Hive/QuenaSabor Songwriting Contest!
Contest Description
Write and perform a new song. I will break this down into three sections.
- General Rules: These will apply to the contest uniformly from month to month.
- Basket Ingredients: This will be specific to each challenge individually, but will give everyone a common base to write from.
- Rewards: Since this whole thing is funded directly by me personally, the kinds of rewards I can afford to offer may change from month to month. Although I’ll be trying to keep it consistent as much as I can, if the rewards are super important to you, make sure you’re checking this before participating as well.
General Rules
- Title: QuenaSabor Song Writing Challenge [month] [year] (i.e. QuenaSabor Song Writing Challenge May 2023)
- Tags:
@albuslucimus, #hivesongwritingchallenge, (OPTIONAL: #hivesongwritersguild)
- Community: Post the video in any community you like. For extra brownie points however, post it in the QuenaSabor community.
- Timeframe: All videos posted before the 20th of the contest month and after the 20th of the previous month will be eligible. (i.e. for May, post your video after April 20th and before May 20th)
- Provide a link to your submission in the comments to this post.
Basket Ingredients, May 2023
- Subject: “Friends and enemies”
- Specific Words: Lyrics must include the following words: [friends, enemies, eyes, mirror]
…that’s it for this section this month. So the challenge is to write a song with the given subject, and the lyrics must somewhere include the four keywords provided above. Any style is fine. I don’t want to get too long here breaking down specifics that people may not need – so if you have questions, just ask in the comments and I will use FAQs to improve these posts as (/if) we continue on with this writers’ guild challenge.
Rewards
- Participation: I will give every video submission a 100 point boost. If you post your video in the QuenaSabor community, I will give 200 points boost. Promotions will be dished out as soon as I see the video is up, so if it’s been a day or two and you haven’t seen the boost, let me know in the comments to this post and I’ll get you hooked up.
- First Place: 500 Ecency Points (+ Participation)
- Second Place: 200 Ecency Points (+ Participation)
- Third Place: 100 Ecency Points (+ Participation)
Ok, I think that’s it! As a show of good faith, I will not ask you to do something I can’t or won’t do myself; so here is my entry (don’t worry, I am not eligible to win!) 😊 I chose the subject and words pretty much at random, and put this song together afterwards.
We’re not going for perfection here; the goal is to work on our songwriting and develop our skills together. Be creative, have fun, and flex those music muscles!
