Anyway, here’s the scoop:
I know it’s been a while. Back in like March or so, a change was made to the 3Speak upload process, and from that point onward I have been unable to upload videos.
I took some time just posting ocasional things here, but mostly I decided to spend time with my family.
During that time, I was praying regularly, asking God why He hasn’t really changed/used me. Then one day, He answered. There were no words, but the message came into my awareness, all of a sudden and fully formed:
I gave you My living Word…read it.
…so I dedicated myself to reading it, a little here and a little there. As the practice continued, I became enamored, even addicted to reading my Bible. To be honest, I mostly just was reading The Gospel According to Matthew over and over. But as many times as I read it, the parable of the talents continued to elude me. What does Jesus care about investing money??? I thought.
Then one day, it hit me: the parable has nothing to do with talents of silver, it’s about the treasure that is the gospel, and how, even if we cherish it and protect it, if we’re not in some way planting the seed, we’re missing the purpose.
I then flashed in my mind to Matthew 7:24-27, at the end of the Sermon on the Mount — the parable of the two builders.
Jesus says everyone who hears his words and does them is like a wise man who built his house on rock — when storms came, it stood firm. But whoever hears his words and does not do them is like a foolish man who built on sand — when the storms came, the house fell, “and great was its fall” (v. 27)…and I KNEW, I have to share this gospel.
My first thought was to share it here on Hive, but the 3Speak issue held me back. I had to do something that honestly scared me. I had to start a brand new account on another media site that wouldn’t restrict me from videos and live streams. I went with Facebook, not exactly sure why, but that’s how it unfolded. Now, I’ve just recently finished reading the Gospel According to Matthew. Next we’re jumping to The Epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Romans. We’ll flit around a bit, but I intend to read every book of the Bible, and I’d love to see you there!
