I apologize for cluttering up the feed with questions, but so far I’ve been unable to figure out what’s going on.
I created a new group today. It shows up when I go to the Ecency.com/created/hive-xxxxxx address:
But when I search it, the group doesn’t show up (…):
(…)unless I look under “People” :
I don’t have much HP, but I delegated a small amount to see if that could help. I’ve tried updating to add myself as Admin, changing the display name and adding a description…as far as I can tell I did everything I’ve done for creating my (5) other communities. But for some reason, this one is a person?
I’d sincerely appreciate any help I can get, I’m excited to start using the community as soon as I’m able to do so.
Thanks!!!
EDIT 1:
I was able join the group from the “created” page, but it looks like for some reason it’s just that the display name is blank?
EDIT 2:
Ok, full disclosure, I left out information that may be helpful if I have any developers looking at this.
I may have gotten “Error 401” feedback on the last four communities I’ve made (I only wanted to make two. I’ll explain.)
hive-123445
6 Dec 2021
Copied/pasted account name and key to notepad and save/continued. Received error message, didn’t bother to write it down.
Assumed the action had failed, tried a second time…hive-171740
Second attempt, 6 Dec 2021
Assuming the last attempt was a loss, I created my group again with the next hive-xxxxxx that was issued. Copied/pasted account name and key to notepad, overwriting original (presumably worthless) account and key.
Received error message again. Again, didn’t really care about the specifics yet at that time.
I posted about the issue and received enough feedback to start piecing things together; this is a conversation I had with another user who helped me look into the matter last time.
Since I still had the key I copied after this try, I logged in, set up my community, and began scheduling posts there.I figured this whole thing was just a fluke situation and I considered the lost community a negligible wash…life was good again :)
- hive-169691 (manually selected this one after 169420 and 143069 were already taken). Not sure if that was part of the issue, but at this point I’m guessing not…
9 Dec 2021
At this point I considered the previous issue resolved, so I was creating an entirely new separate group; I got an error again this time, but this time it captured it. error 401.
But unlike 3 days ago, this time I had learned a little more, so I didn’t assume that the action had actually failed, and in fact it looks like it hadn’t.
…so I checked the blockchain explorer to see if it had worked or not. I found the record of the creation under my account, so I called it good and got started setting up my new group.
For whatever reason, my new community only showed up under people, or could be viewed as a community by direct hive.com/created/hive-xxxxxx access, but still exhibited various strange behaviors.
This is where this post originated. But I’m impatient. So after I hadn’t gotten a response se in a while, I just thought maybe it was because I had manually chosen my base hive ID number…I decided to try again and just take whatever number I was given.
- hive-155542
Second attempt, 9 Dec 2021
To be honest, I’ve made no effort to establish this one. I’m assuming all Thai will work out eventually, and I know someday I’ll have a use for this group, woo woo woo. The purpose of this one was to prove whether or not customizing the group’s 6 digit ID number may have had an effect on the outcome, and the result was that I don’t think so.
From everything I can tell, my initial group should just be a group, and it should have a display name. Then again, I’ve noticed now my feed doesn’t have preview images and I’m having a hard time accessing the same hive blockchain explorer I was looking at
without issue just a half hour ago.
…so maybe there’s just something else going on?
Anyway, thanks again :)
