Today it's holiday in my region. As my daughter lost her neck warmer recently and it's getting colder and colder, I decided to make one. We looked in my leftover fabric box and found the bike printed fabric, which I used for my daughter and my partner's best friends' baby. My partner, who was a former professional runner asked me to use this bike printed fabric as his friends are athletes too and the papa rides bike during iron men competitions.
When we were looking for fabric, we opened my yarn box and found my daughter's baby time blanket. I was knitting it few years ago around this time of the year while we were waiting for delivery. I picked an organic yarn dyed with plants wishing my daughter grows up in close contact with nature and is friendly to the environment.
I cut the blanket before to make a neck warmer for my daughter as it is the blanket is too small for her. Half of the blanket was there as if waiting for me to make another neck warmer.
Then the two fabrics packed with memory were combined as a neck warmer.
Sewing itself was quite easy going. First I make a tube with two fabrics and close them one side from inside. Then sew the opened part together. I do the same when I sew a head band. (Excuse me for the messy hand drawing!)
The neck warmer is packed with our wishes; being friendly to the environment from me and enjoy sport from my partner. I wish she enjoy wearing it 🚲🌲

私の住んでいる州は今日はお休みです。最近子どもがネックウォーマーをなくしてしまい、ますます寒くなってきたので、ひとつ縫うことにしました。端切れの箱を子どもと一緒に覗いてみると、子どものシャツと相方の親友カップルの赤ちゃんのズボンに使った自転車のプリント生地がありました。
生地を探しているときに、毛糸の箱を開けたら子どもが赤ちゃんのときのブランケットが出てきました。数年前のこの時期に、子どもが生まれるのを待ちながら編んだものです。自然に囲まれて育ち、環境に優しい子になるといいなと思って、植物で染めたオーガニックの毛糸を選んだのを覚えています。懐かしいなあ！
このブランケットは、赤ちゃんサイズで小さすぎたので、すでに数年前に子どものネックウォーマーを作るためにハサミを入れていました。ブランケットの残り半分は、ネックウォーマーになるのを待っていたのかな。
かくして環境に優しくなるようにという私の願いと、元プロの陸上選手だった相方のスポーツを楽しむようにという願い（怨念??? www）が込められたネックウォーマーができあがったのでした。
子どもも気に入っているようでぬくぬく外遊びのおともになってくれるといいな！
