Recently, I've used up most of filaments I bought with the my 3D printer, so I finally decided to try something I had been curious about for a long time: glow-in-the-dark PLA filament! And it turned out to be so much fun that I had to write about it here on Hive 😊
The first thing I wanted to print when it arrived was the Monster Ring I designed in spring. Glow PLA behaves a little differently from regular PLA, and the upper-right tooth kept breaking off. I got frustrated and kept making test prints… and somehow ended up with this many 💦
There are obviously too many to keep, so I’m thinking of bringing them to the art markets I’m joining this weekend and giving them away on a donation basis. I’d love to get better at printing with glow filament before Halloween.
Using glow filament also gave me another first: changing the nozzle on my printer. The standard nozzle that came with the printer isn’t recommended for this kind of abrasive filament, so I bought a hardened nozzle and replaced it for the first time.
Little by little, I feel like I’m getting deeper into the world of 3D printing, and I’m really enjoying it.
Since this was my first time using glow filament, I chose the most classic glow-in-the-dark color. But if there’s a good Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale, I’d love to try something more playful next time, maybe pink 😄

最近、手持ちの3Dプリンタのフィラメントがずいぶん減ってきたこともあり、長らく試してみたかった蓄光PLAフィラメントを買ってみました。これがなんとも楽しいのでHiveに書くことにしました！
到着したらまず作ってみようと思っていたのが、春に作ったモンスターリングでした。普通のPLAとちょっと勝手が違って、右上の歯が折れてしまうことがあり、なんだか悔しくて試作を繰り返していたら、この数 💦 さすがに多いので、週末に参加するアートマーケットで寄付ベースで配布してこようと思います。ハロウィンまでにうまく扱えるようになりたいです。
今回蓄光フィラメントを使うにあたって、プリンタ購入時についてくるノズルは推奨ではなく、強化ノズルも購入して、初めてのノズル交換も体験しました。ちょっとずつ3Dプリンティングの世界に足を突っ込んでいっていて楽しいです。
初めてだったこともあり、蓄光フィラメントはものすごく王道の色を選びましたが、ブラックフライデーでセールになったらピンクなどでも遊んでみたいです。
