We had an old mattress. There was a dirty part on the cushion inside but there were clean parts too. I thought about making two floor pillows out of it by cutting it in pieces and putting cover on them. It was fun to work on the project this weekend with my daughter.
Yesterday morning, we had fun time cutting the big cushion with a bread knife. I would love to show it on the other hand it was too messy and I forgot to take photos ...
After we cut the cushion, we went to buy fabric and zippers to the downtown. There were plenty of fabrics for furnitures few years ago when I upholster our IKEA sofa but there were not much this time. I wondered fabric shops move more to online.
Initially I thought about using plain fabric like those I used for the IKEA sofa (left) or the green one we have for our dining chair (right), which also I repaired.
Unfortunately we couldn't find none of them. We picked a bit crazy one with peacock and botanical print 😁
I cut the fabric last night ... in my work space, kitchen. I was proud on myself that I could fit in all the parts in 2m fabric and had really less leftover fabric. I think I inherited the skill from my grandma.
Then I just continue sewing sewing sewing today. They are not big pillows; the smaller one is 60cm x 60cm x 14cm and the larger one is 60cm x 90cm x 14cm. In total I sew more than 10m plus overlock ... It doesn't sound much but I felt I had to sew infinitely 😂
Now I have a mobile workspace in front of a heating 🧶
My daughter and I have a next project to make a wooden base with a small table for the pillows as shown in the sketch below.

古いマットレスからフロアクッションを作りました。マットレスの中身のきれいな部分を切り取って、カバーをつけたいと思っていたのです。金曜日にスケッチを描き始めたら、いつの間にか子供が色を塗ったり人を描き加えたりでテンションが上がって、週末に一気に作ってしまいました。

昨日は、大きなクッションをパン切り包丁で切る作業をゲラゲラ笑いながら進めて、街に生地とファスナーを買いに行きました。数年前にIKEAのソファの生地を張り替えた時には家具用の生地がたくさんあったものの、今回見に行ったら家具用の生地の品揃えが激減していました。コロナもあって生地屋さんはネットに移行しているのかな、ちょっと残念。
当初は、IKEAのソファ（左）やダイニングチェア（右）に使ったような無地の布を使おうかと思ったのですが、無地でいい感じのものはなし。
生地屋さんで買うかオンラインで注文するか迷いに迷って、何を考えてかピーコックとボタニカル柄のちょっとクレイジーな生地を購入しました😂 いいですよね。黒だし汚れも目立たないはず・・・・・多分 w
2m買ったにすべてのパーツを収めて、残り布はほんのちょっとで、「ああ、おばあちゃんの孫だなあ」なんて天国の祖母と洋裁をした頃を懐かしく思いながらきっちんの端っこで布を切っていました。
そして、今日はひたすら縫う縫う。小さい方は60cm×60cm×14cm、大きい方は60cm×90cm×14cmでそこまで大きくはなかったのですが、布の端にかけるロックミシンも合わせると無限に縫っている気がしました。。
夕方には大きい方も完成。好きなところにささっと移動して編み物をできるのがうれしいです。
でもこのプロジェクトはまだ終わりではなくて、下のスケッチのように、木でこ上がりのような台を作りたいねと話しています。テーブルのように張り出させてそこにお茶やお菓子をおけたらいいな。
