I introduced my Bean Necklace project at a design biennale BIO26 in Slovenia. The topic of the biennale is "common knowledge" and "information crisis". So I would like to address the problem that many beans are disappearing and traditional dishes with them are lost. We should eat more tasty beautiful beans. It's good for our the environment, our health and also for budget 😁
An accident happened during my presentation. My daughter was running into the stage and started shouting ... 😱It's as it is and I wasn't angry as she waited more than 2 hours silently before that.
Anyway I'm glad that I could finish my presentation and could move forward the project by designing and making some more bean necklaces.
Here are those I brought today:
This is a necklace with German regional lentils called "Alb-Leisa". By 1985 lentils were no longer cultivated in Swabian Jura and the surrounding area, a region in Germany. Regional lentils were completely lost. Alternatively organic farmers cultivated French lentils. In 2006, Swabian lentil varieties were found in a gene bank in St. Petersburg. Since then local lentil are back to the region again and also marketed nationally :) As my partner comes from a region not so much far from the region, we like to have it in our kitchen and cook it time by time.
This necklace is made with "White Jumbo Beans" ...... I was surprised to see how it's named. Yes they are big and white but it should have a name. It is called Daifukumame in Japan. I made a necklace out of the beans as I would like to catch attention to this pity but beautiful beans and wish they will be sold under a real name in the future.
I will travel around, hunt beans and stories, and make some more necklaces.
I wish I can host one or more exhibition in this year finally 7 years after I had idea to make necklaces with beans ;)
子どもがプレゼン中に乱入するアクシデントがありましたが、スロベニアのデザインビエンナーレでのプレゼンを終えてあとはゆっくりして帰るのみです。せっかくなので今回持ってきたネックレスの写真を。
旅をしながら、おもしろい豆とレシピやストーリーを見つけて、もう少しネックレスを作って、構想から7年、今年こそ展示をしてみたいなと思っています。
