I sewed my garden scrap bag with washable paper called Snap Pap. It was leftover from a project, which I made a prototype of portable plant pot for kids. It's too much to go to the apartment's common garbage bin every time and disposable plastic bags break easily with branches.
切り落とした枝や花がらを入れる庭のビオゴミ袋を作りました。毎度ちょこちょこ捨てに行くのは面倒だし、使い捨てのプラスチックの袋は穴があいてしまうし・・・ということで、子ども用の紙製植木鉢を試作するときに使ったSnapPapという洗える紙で縫ってみました。
As SnapPap is washable, I expected it fit well for outdoor use. I used it for one to two months outside so far and it worked well. It has bottom to stand by itself. It's strong enough to host branches I cut from trees. It stays clean but I'm happy to have a washing opportunity in the end of the season.
洗える紙ということで、1-2ヶ月ほど使ってみましたが、ご覧の便利に使えています。そこがあるので自立するので枝刈りや草むしりが捗ります。丈夫で枝も飛び出しません。雨ざらしではないこともあり、まだ結構きれいですが、洗おうと思えば洗えるのもいいところ。
Few things were different from sewing regular fabric. Clips are needed as alternative to marking pins. A bit more creativity and more workspace is needed as the paper isn't as flexible as fabric. Other than that it was quite easy going. My typical home use simple sewing machine could sew it.
紙ならではの縫いにくさはあるものの、待ち針の代わりにクリップを使ったり、縫いやすいように型紙を工夫したりすれば扱いに困ることはありません。あとは布のようにしならないので、大きいものを縫う場合は作業場所がいつもより必要です。ミシンで縫えるのかというと、私の高価でない典型的な家庭用ミシンでも十分縫えました。
I'm happy with the result :) よい出来に満足しています。
Talking about gardening and sewing, some of you may wonder how is my grow bag doing. The lettuce stays in the bag. It doesn't produce a lot but it gives me modest amount of leaves for my sandwiches. I'll observe how it works some more time.
そうそう、庭と洋裁といえば、袋栽培のレタスはどうなった？と思う人もいるかもしれません。大豊作とはいきませんが私のサンドイッチに入れる程度の葉っぱは提供してくれています。野口種苗の無肥料栽培ルッコラの種が日本から届いて小さな株ができつつあるのでこれも試してみたいです。
