Based on the presently available information, the introduction of Rebellion brings forth a plethora of new elements to the game. As is customary with any new release, acclimating to the inclusion of new Monster cards necessitates some time as it shifts the dynamics of battles. However, beyond these new Monster cards, there are also forthcoming introductions such as New Abilities, Multi-Element Summoners, and Summoner Tactics. Here's a quick overview of some of these changes.
To be honest, grappling with the simultaneous introduction of all these modifications can be rather daunting. Therefore, the arrival of Rebellion is sure to bring about a substantial transformation in the way battles are waged, potentially rendering our established strategies less effective 😕
While exploring the Community Page earlier this week, I came across an intriguing post by @tsnaks that immediately grabbed my attention. In his post, he shared a graphic featuring not the usual four abilities I'm familiar with, but rather five new ones! 😮

This piqued my curiosity, prompting me to dive further into the Community pages for additional information about the AMBUSH ability. What struck me as peculiar about this new skill is that, upon retracing my steps to Splinterlands' official information in the SHOP page, only four new abilities were displayed. Therefore, my assumption is that the AMBUSH ability is still being tested, and it hasn't been officially announced as a new skill yet!
Without any delay, let's jump right into the subject I want to dive into for this week's Social Media Challenge post, which is presented in a fresh format, focusing on the imminent arrival of the Rebellion edition. This post will primarily revolve around the AMBUSH ability among the four five newly introduced abilities!
After some digging around, here are some details I uncovered regarding the AMBUSH ability. As per the information I gathered, the AMBUSH ability enables a unit to take action before the commencement of the battle. This ability is guaranteed to trigger only once, right at the outset of the battle. However, whether the unit successfully lands its attack on the target is still contingent on their respective Attack Accuracy. Furthermore, when there are multiple attackers with the ability, the Attack Order would also apply.
AMBUSH is a passive ability that would be activated right at the start of the battle
In theory, AMBUSH shares similarities with the operations of abilities like Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity, all of which catches the opponent off guard. Consequently, the Lookout ability is designed to reduce the damage inflicted by those with the AMBUSH skill by half, rounded down
When a unit equipped with the AMBUSH ability successfully inflicts Poison, the initial application will activate at the conclusion of Round 0, just before the onset of Round 1
Currently, if units possessing the Recharge ability are bestowed with the AMBUSH ability as well, they will not need to undergo recharging and could immediately launch their attack in Round 0
A notable change during the battle whenever the AMBUSH ability is at play
The AMBUSH Round serves as a prelude to Round 1 (i.e. Round 0).
When a unit with the AMBUSH ability is in present in either lineup, the "AMBUSH!" text will be displayed before Round 1, signaling the activation of the AMBUSH Round.
Taking into account the information discussed in the earlier sections, one of the significant beneficiaries following the introduction of the AMBUSH ability is undoubtedly the Recharge ability. Typically overlooked in battles and primarily utilized only during the Back to Basics ruleset, the introduction of the AMBUSH ability now establishes a new synergy that is bound to alter the battlefield dynamics! 😎
Recharge - This Monster attacks every other round but does 3x damage!
Moreover, when discussing the AMBUSH ability, how could we not mention the new Rebellion Summoner, generating considerable excitement within the Splinterlands Community! 😍
Shiminach Akane has the capability to bestow either the Lookout ability upon one unit or grant the AMBUSH ability to two units of your choosing during the Summoner Tactic phase. The opportunity to apply the AMBUSH ability selectively to a chosen unit enhances the synergy between the Recharge ability and AMBUSH ability. I am confident that these Monsters will experience significant advantages in battles moving forward! 💪
In any case, I'm including a video reference from @bulldog1205 for those interested in witnessing the real-time gameplay testing of the
AMBUSH ability on Mav's server!
What do you guys think about the AMBUSH ability? Am I understanding it correctly? 😅
