I was on a drive with a friend yesterday and we wanted to check out this art café/ studio in the city. Being able to paint on different objects/ surfaces seemed really cool and we’d been hearing a lot about this particular café.
We chose ceramic objects to paint on instead of canvases. It seemed more fun to me since I don’t get to do that at my home anyway. I don’t remember using ceramic colors before but they seemed quite similar to watercolors visually. But much rougher in texture.
Since I love flowers and am always including them in my artworks, I wanted to paint something like that on my ceramic storage box too. I think I had seen hundreds of pictures of the sakura flower in the past few weeks and without a doubt my choice of color was a reddish crimson.
I love drawing/ making movements because of how difficult it is to capture in our memories in real life. Things happen so fast in these moments eg: raindrops falling, wind blowing away flowers, etc. and that is exactly what draws me to the idea of painting those kind of moments to enjoy them longer.
I added the “The Red Thread of Fate” from the Chinese culture at the center because I have a very deep love for the idea and the knot. I always try to sneak it in my art pieces lol.
When we were done, we gave our mugs away for glazing after which they would be ready for pickup.
It was so worth the trip to the art café and the crazy dark rainy roads. We the went on other cafés and bars to begin the night!
