BIENVENIDO A MI RINCĂN
>Yesterday was a very special day for me because it was my aunt's birthday; she is an important person who has always been there for me through both the good times and the bad. She always writes to me and keeps in touch with my family, so I decided to go to her birthday celebration. I don't visit my family very oftenâeven though I always keep up with themâsince Iâm not much of a socializer; however, I decided to be more present this year. I drove over with my mom, and the whole thing happened very quickly. I was actually coming down with a bug and felt a bit awkward arriving in that state, but to my surprise, everyone else was also sick or getting over an illness, so I didn't feel quite so bad.
>The whole journey was quick; we had to make a few transfers, but it went by fast. We arrived at my aunt's workplaceâI was really happy about that. We stayed with her and some other relatives who actually work in the same area, so I got to see them, too. I arrived hungry and with a headacheâIâm not sure if it was from all the complaining or just because I hadn't had any coffee. Itâs rare for me to run late, but I hadn't slept well because of the draft, and then my alarm just wouldn't wake me up, so I ended up running a bit behind schedule for my morning coffee. The upside was that I got a little bit of coffee there, and we split a *torta* at my aunt's shop.
>Afterwards, my mom and I went to my grandmother's place to wait for my aunt and the surprise they were preparing for her. My grandmother made us lunch; we ate and then got to work filling balloons (there were quite a few). The decorations were lovelyâthey were avocado-themed. This was because of a well-known anecdote involving her; as it turned out, when she arrived, she didn't understand the avocado theme at all. We were all cracking up.
>I really enjoyed spending time with the familyâmy cousinâs funny remarks, my grandmother, my aunts, and everyone else. We talked, had coffee, and laughed. We sang "Happy Birthday," but my mom was already worried about the time; we had to catch the train to Los Valles. The car got a flat tire, so we had to find a repair shop; then we headed to Caracasâwe actually made good timeâand took the train, though I was exhausted. Afterward, we took a taxi; the fare wasn't too bad. I was worried about my dogs. I fed them as soon as I got homeâmy husband had fed them too, but Iâm a bit of a stickler about that, hehe. Doggy and Perla had gone with him to pick me up, and that was itâI went straight to bed..
