While I was growing up, I found out that I had the flair and liking to read storybooks and novels. So at Easter, my dad asked me to tell him what I would like him to buy for me. I thought of different entertaining things but figured out that those things wouldn’t last for long. After a while, I answered by telling him I would like three storybooks. He went out that day and came back with the books. The three books had catchy titles, but out of all, one was special. This title had suspense in it, so I read it. The name of the book was titled “The food in the Cupboard”
This is how the story goes. There was a girl named Sonia. She lived with her father and mother peacefully until a tragic accident claimed the life of her mum. It was not an easy time for them, but they managed. A few months later, her father remarried. Her stepmother was kind and good whenever her father was at home but later turned wicked whenever her father was not at home. She would always order Sonia around and would threaten her not to tell her dad.
A few years later, Sonia’s stepmother delivered and gave birth to a bouncing baby boy called Akin. Because of the arrival of the newborn baby, she totally turned Sonia into a housemaid in her father’s absence. Sonia’s father soon learned what was happening and then sent Sonia to a boarding school because she was then in SS 1(ONE). She went to boarding school and was no longer disturbed by her wicked stepmother. Later, Sonia’s stepmother realized Sonia was gaining much love and attention from her father, which wasn’t so on her son’s side. This made her become jealous.
One day, Sonia’s stepmother learned Sonia was coming home for a holiday. She cooked porridge yam and then put some on a plate and poisoned it. Unfortunately, Sonia went to her aunt’s house and was supposed to come back the next day. When her stepmother got to know about it, she hid the food in the cupboard so that neither her son nor her husband would eat it. Later in the evening, her son came back from a lesson and was starving. He saw the food in the cupboard and ate it. Sooner than anyone could imagine, he started vomiting. But before his mother could give him the antidote, he was already dead.
The moral lesson of this story is that it is not good to be jealous because jealousy can make you do bad things that may later bounce back on you.
