Merry Xmas to my my fellow steemians!
Growing up, I can always remember what our table looked like at Xmas time...
Absolutely full of nibbles and dishes so the many visitors who came to wish us a merry Christmas could help themselves...
The most prominent dish I remember were this tiny meat balls that me and my siblings used to enjoy so much..
As I grew older,I passed this tradition to my children who will someday pass it to their children too as we cannot imagine Christmas without this dish on the table.
Today, being a very special day I will pass this recipe to you.
Ingredients:
1 kilo of minced meat
6 eggs.
150g grated Parmesan cheese.
250g bread crumbs.
2 teaspoons of garlic powder (use fresh garlic if you like)
1/2 cup of parsley leaves (fresh or dried)
Salt, pepper and nutmeg to your taste.
Mix all ingredients thourougly and let it rest for at least 2 hours.
This will allow all flavors to blend nicely.
Once rested, use a teaspoon to scoop up a portion then roll it into a ball and place it in a tray.
This is what will take most of the time as your rolling balls the size of a 50c piece.
Once this is done, you can opt to bake or fry them till they’re nice and brown.
Then serve them in a bowl with a companion bowls of crackers and can be eaten warm or cold.
To this day, I still make them for my family every Christmas...
It’s a tradition that started with my great grand parents and, in our family.
Is a must to have at Christmas.
Hope you enjoy them too.
Cheers
A
Merry Christmas all...
