Hello everyone in Family & Friends, nice to meet you.
I’m Agus from Indonesia.
I want to share the story of how I met my wife on Facebook in 2021/2022, which eventually led to marriage and us being blessed with a child.
At the beginning of our relationship, everything felt smooth. There were no real challenges.
But after we got married, that’s when the real tests started coming, one after another
These are the photos that always make me smile whenever I open them on my phone.
Because they remind me of the past, when I first got to know my wife.
This was us when we were still dating. We met in a funny way, on Facebook in 2021-2022.
It started with just commenting on each other’s posts. Then my wife DM’d me first, jokingly asking me to marry her.
I replied, "We’ve only known each other for a few days"
And our dating period only lasted 1 month.
What really made us serious was when we decided to meet in person and go on a trip to Jogja together. Were we nervous? Yes. Were we happy? Absolutely.
This was our very first trip to Jogja together.
Was I nervous? Absolutely.
But funny enough, our conversation just flowed like we’d known each other for years.
Even though we had only been dating for 1 month at that time.
Back then, she was the one who asked to take a photo. She said, "So we have proof that we actually met"
That night we walked around Malioboro.
It was packed with local tourists. The streets were brightly lit. Becak and horse carriages were lined up along the sidewalk.
The souvenir sellers and vendors of Yogyakarta’s famous snacks seemed endless.
We had no clear destination. We just walked, laughed, and enjoyed the atmosphere of Yogyakarta City.
And it’s true, Malioboro is best enjoyed at night with the one you love.
This is the most memorable moment.
After an 8-hour motorcycle ride from home to Jogja, we were starving.
So we decided to buy satay near 0 KM.
We sat on the sidewalk. We ordered chicken satay, rice cakes, with sweet soy sauce. So simple.
But even until now, the taste is still stuck in my memory.
Maybe because I ate it with her
This photo was unplanned.
It was taken on the side of the street, right after we finished eating chicken satay.
Suddenly, our hands just found each other and held on.
That day we whispered softly,
"I hope we can come back here again, but as husband and wife."
Alhamdulillah... that prayer was answered.
Now this handhold is officially between husband and wife.
This was our last selfie before heading back to the hotel.
It was still during the pandemic, so we had to wear masks everywhere
But all the tiredness disappeared because we spent the whole day laughing together.
In my heart, I was already thinking,
"I hope we can come back here someday... with our child."
This was the closing photo of our trip that time.
I was standing in front of Malioboro, thinking about so many things.
From meeting on Facebook, dating for only 1 month, to finally having the courage to travel together.
Who would have thought that our story began right here in Jogja.
And now... our story has continued to marriage and we’ve been blessed with a child.
Thank you for reading our story, from meeting on Facebook to our very first trip to Jogja
This is just the beginning. There’s still so much more to share.
From LDR, the proposal, our wedding, to finally being blessed with a child.
