This is an old story, cut down to less than half its original size, so I could publish it in the Inkwell. I think it's more effective in the abbreviated form. Funny...we don't need all those words :)

Yeah, poor Doris, a prisoner of fear and uncertainty. Is Bruce lying? Maybe. Most likely he's just weary of having to be careful. On the other hand, is he dense, stupid or devious? He takes another road home without asking her? Checks out Area 51 without telling her where he planned to go?

Marriage is a strange institution. Why do people stay together? Sometimes it doesn't make sense to anyone other than those inside the marriage.
