My husband and I met at work. I started before he did on the job. This was a traditional 'male' job. The discrimination there was blatant and would have had serious financial consequences, if I had not challenged the system. By the time he came on the job, I had rather a reputation for fighting for my rights. He knew what he was getting. Just someone who wanted a fair shot. Gender rights were not an issue with him. He'd been to war (did not volunteer). He had his priorities in order. Neither one of us was silly. We certainly had our personality issues, but never did they relate to gender discrimination. That would have been a non-starter with me. Over the years we have had a lot of issues. We're like most married couples. Gender equality? Not on the radar.
