He asked what the ring meant
Going on and on in circles of explanations, I tried to convince him that it meant nothing
He smiled and winked at me like he knew something I didn't
After a long conversation about nothing but platonic talk
He asked again "what did the ring mean"

I spoke up again

"It means something very important, I wore this because I was in love and wanted to stay faithful and I don't think I can get over him"

"You clearly seem to be doing okay without him and you've gotten over him"
"Well, I haven't," I said
"Then where is the ring you've only got a mark showing you wore one, that's why I asked what it meant"

Looking at my finger, I realised he was correct. I had healed from the hurt and pain without even noticing... I didn't have the ring on nor the pain in my heart

"How funny is that you didn't even notice your ring was gone" Smiling, I stared at my finger, muttering "Yeah it is gone"
