Lady Gaga is amazing, I really think it's the best performance of the movie and she enjoys it a lot. Joaquin Phoenix is always fantastic, even though here I don't think he gives one of his best performances, any of his performances are always good, and next to him, the cinematography is also very interesting. All of this, the technical stuff, basically, is something I knew was going to be a shot in the dark; a blockbuster of the stature of Joker 2 had to at least have a very nice aesthetic and here it more than delivers, I can't deny that. I consider that the movie works on many sides and considering the hate it's getting, I honestly can't say it's as bad as it's being painted. This hate seems to me to be more of a way to jump on the bandwagon than anything else, and I say this by saying that I didn't like it, but why?

I saw the movie Thursday night and I was tired. I'd like to think that's why it bored me, but the truth is that the more I think about it, the more I remember that it's really, really boring. This is my problem with the movie, and not the fact that they show Arthur Fleck as the pathetic person he is or the fact that it's a musical (something that in concept seemed to me to fit perfectly, since it makes perfect sense to me that a madman would see his life as a musical), but the weird pacing of the movie, with musical numbers that have no head or tail, that seem to be done reluctantly just because.

However, the conversation on the internet is not so much about whether the movie is boring or not (which for me it is), but about how they treat the joker and how they empower Lady Gaga, which is a criticism that couldn't make less sense, since the movie goes wrong is mostly because of the direction Todd Phillips wanted to take, not because of anything else. Already at this point, it's a little obvious that I don't like to say that a movie is bad or not to see it, because I feel that my duty when making movie reviews than to create conversation, and conversation is not created if you don't see the movie, but it becomes impossible for me not to say that for me, the movie is boring, and that's the worst thing that can happen to a movie.

El jueves pasado, en su estreno, pude ver Joker 2, y vaya que es interesante lo que tengo que decir de la película. Si alguien aquí ya ha leído algunas críticas sobre la película, sabrá que la mayoría son criticas malas, sobre lo aburrida que puede ser, el musical que no está realmente bien hecho o que su presupuesto no tiene nada que ver con el resultado final. Yo, sinceramente, estoy de acuerdo con casi todas esas críticas y me molesta un poco hablar de una película que no me gusta, sobre todo cuando estaba esperando con ansias que me encantara. Pero más allá de eso, a pesar de que voy a dar mi punto de vista (que es muy parecido al de muchos, la verdad), también tengo algunas cosas buenas que decir.

Lady Gaga es increíble, realmente creo que es la mejor actuación de la película y que lo disfruta un montón. Joaquin Phoenix siempre es fantástico, a pesar de que aquí no me parece que da una de sus mejores actuaciones, cualquiera de sus actuaciones siempre es buena, y junto a él, la fotografía también es muy interesante. Todo esto, lo técnico, básicamente, es algo que sabía que iba a ser un tiro al piso; un blockbuster de la talla de Joker 2 tenía que, al menos, tener una estética muy linda y aquí cumple con creces, eso no lo puedo negar. Yo considero que la película funciona por muchos lados y teniendo en cuenta el hate que está recibiendo, sinceramente no puedo decir que es tan mala como la pintan. Este hate me parece que es algo más como una forma de montarse en el carro que otra cosa, y esto lo digo afirmando que a mí no me gustó, pero, ¿por qué?

Vi la película el jueves en la noche y estaba cansado. Quiero pensar que por eso me aburrió, pero la verdad es que mientras más la pienso, más recuerdo que es muy, muy aburrida. Este es mi problema con la película, y no el que muestren a Arthur Fleck como la persona patética que es o el hecho de que sea un musical (algo que en concepto me parecía que calzaba perfecto, ya que para mí tiene mucho sentido que un loco vea su vida como un musical), sino el ritmo tan raro que tiene la película, con unos números musicales que no tienen ni pies ni cabeza, que parece que están hechos de mala gana simplemente porque sí.

Sin embargo, la conversación en internet no es tanto sobre si la película es aburrida o no (que para mí si es), sino sobre como tratan al guason y como empoderan a Lady Gaga, lo cual es una crítica que no podría tener menos sentido, ya que la película sale mal es más que todo por la dirección que quiso tomar Todd Phillips, no por otra cosa. Ya en este punto, es un poco obvio que no me gusta decir que una película es mala o que no la vean, porque siento que mi deber a la hora de hacer reviews de películas que crear conversación, y la conversación no se crea si no ves la película, pero se me hace imposible no decir que para mí, la película es aburrida, y eso es lo peor que le puede pasar a una película.
