When I take photos of people on the streets, I mostly try to grant them a level of anonymity. It's not always possible, and in some cases the subject gives me a nod to say it's ok - like in the photo above of the Atika guy.
One of the techniques is taking photos from behind with the person faced away, or with their face obstructed by an object or another person.
In the photo immediately below, the man with the print shirt is actually obstructing his entire family - his wife and 2 young children sitting between them.
