I was in town today finishing off my roll of film and I walked past this basketball court. It brought back so many memories of my uni days when I used to play basketball.
We weren’t bad. We came 3rd once losing to only Oxford and a University of London college I can’t remember.
Oxford was on fire. They had four 3 point specialists on the team that just kept firing threes from downtown. So frustrating.
It was me, one American dude who’s now a movie star in Hollywood, a Jamaican and a whole bunch of Greeks. We were good, flamboyant and almost all of us could dunk. I could do a 360, and catch any kind of ally-oop and turn it into a reverse jam. I was Clyde Drexler. 😂
We wound dribble, dribble, fade, fake layup blah blah, dunk. We were effing cartoon characters. Oxford wound get the ball, fire a long range pass to the unguarded guy at the 3-point line, loads of time, he’d perform a textbook jump shot ...... swish!
They won by 40 points. Hahaha.
It was a good game though. I learnt a lot about how a well organised team of average players can easily crush a bunch of highly talented individuals.
I was tempted to do a run up jump to see if I could still touch the rim. Then I remembered my knee injury and decided against it.
