8K HDMI Cable

It's amazing how far we've come when it comes to resolution, be it with cameras, TV screens or computer monitors. If you told someone 20 years ago that we'd be watching 8K clips on a TV screen, they'd find it unfathomable. Nowadays, even though it isn't yet commonplace, 8K TV that is, we do have 8K monitors and projectors available, and content to serve them. Games especially have been pumping out some ultra-high res stuff lately.

While it's easy to attain 8K res with photos, most smartphones nowadays can shoot 8k photos and higher, video is a different matter. The amount of disk space required to store them is still prohibitive. Also the human eye can't really tell the difference between 4k and 8k on the average TV screen or computer monitor. The difference shows when you project on an area the size of a small cinema screen - which a lot of people now have at home.

The current available video infrastructure that we have, cables, monitors, motherboards, memory modules, etc, are also starting to struggle a bit. Most of my HDMI cables, for example, can only handle 1080p max.

I was sent the cable in the video above to review by a brand called Silkland. They do high quality cables, in terms of durability and ability to transmit high resolution data, in response to the ever changing multimedia ecosystem. I've already given away the this cable since I don't have any 8k capable devices, but I can only imagine this will be the standard in a few years.
