Hive Naija's weekly prompt has brought me down memory lane. This event dates back to 2014 when I got admission into a higher institution. As a student, you need a bank account to use for different financial purposes, the most important of which is paying the school fee.

design by me

One faithful day after I concluded all my document verification under a very scorching sun, I decided to enter the bank and set up an account, Getting to the bank premises, the crowd was outrageous, but I had no choice; I joined the crowd and waited, hoping it would get to my turn sooner. After many hours wasted waiting to get to my turn, it took just a few numbers to get to my turn, and the bank security stopped us from entering because the bank had just closed. I was furious, but I had to leave and try again the following day.

Furthermore, I left my hostel very early so I could get to the bank early; fortunately, I got into the banking hall early with my documents. A bank can be very stressful from one unit to another; if you don't eat before you enter the bank, you will collapse.

I started registrations and wanted the process to be as fast as possible because I needed to pay my school tuition fee that day because the portal was going to close that day, and my father was waiting for me to send the account number so he could credit my account.
I got to the final stage of means of identification, provided my voter card, and after accessing it, I was told that my date of birth wasn't showing well and it couldn't be accepted. I pleaded, but there was nothing I could do. I was seeing numbers on it as a fresher, and I was devastated. I thought I was going to lose my admission. I left the hall with teary eyes

One of the staff members saw me outside and was interested in my case. Why would a grown-up lady be crying like that, I explained to him, and he requested the means of identification and explained why the lady refused to use it. When I asked him if he could see the numbers, he said yes, but not vividly, and if it had been photocopied the numbers won't come out clear. but because he wanted to help a crybaby 😃😃 he told me to follow him back to the hall immediately I wiped my tears and I felt a lip of joy within me.

The young man spoke to one of them from that unit, and immediately the process began again, and it was swift. he was really the angle God used for me that very day and he gave me his contact information in case I have any issues again

Conclusively, they were other banks, but that particular bank was what the school requested we use to pay our tuition. If that young man had not helped me, I don't know what I would have done in that situation, because the lady could have used it, but she was just doing her job.
The bank would have cost me that life opportunity.

This is my unforgettable experience with the banking system.
