There will always be disagreement irrespective of where we find ourselves. You will meet people who are highly opinionated and if you are not careful, it can lead to a big disagreement between two parties. When issues escalate and lead to fight and I'm highly conscious of getting myself involved. I don't want to be mistakenly punched or beating while trying to separate two parties from fighting.
I can't just imagine going back with swollen face after trying be my brother's keeper. In cases like this, I do apply wisdom by stepping back just to avoid being a casualty.
I remember one funny incident that happened in my hostel while I was still an undergraduate. There was a fight between two guys in the hostel. The fight started with argument. The argument was so serious that they started fighting. As usual, I stepped back because I don't want to beaten up while trying to separate them but my roommate who turns out to be a peace maker went out to separate them even after I stopped her from going to the fight scene.
After an hour, I had a knock on my door. Guess what? It was my roommate accompanied with other hostel mate. I could not recognize her when I saw. It was as if she was coming from a lion's den. Her cloth was torn and her face was swollen.
What could have happened? I was told that while she was trying to separate them from fighting, her wig flew off from her head and while trying to pick the wig, a punch mistakenly landed on her face. Before she could open her eyes to see what happened, She noticed her skirt was torn while trying to safe herself.
Please, who wear wig to a fight scene? It's quite funny. She came home tying a wrapper that was given to her by one of our neighbour. For three days, she could not stepped out of the hostel because of the swollen face. At some point, she bought a pair of eyeglasses just to conceal the swollen part of eye.
She really learnt the hard way. Ever since then, she stopped being a peacemaker and started minding her business.
