A post was made regarding the current status of this community "Anime Realm Announcement - Handing over the Keys of the Anime Realm". It’s not really dead but not really as active. The reception that announcement received is exactly how I imagined it will be received when 
If it’s an anime show or movie, you can post that stuff now at Movies and TV Shows. But for content like manhwa and manga, we may not have a specific place for that yet but Anime Realm. I’m not sure if the Comics or Book Club would accept those content on their page?
Anyway, I’ll still be curating on this community on my spare time. Why keeping this page active is important because anime as a genre is a low entry requirement to get started on the blogging. There are a lot of fans out there that can potentially be onboarded and find this community as a starting point to explore the blockchain. Anime is popular and there are different subtopics that can be posted under it. I’m more surprised that we get less people posting about it.
Even if there were a lot of posts published within a 24-hour time frame, most would just not show the effort to even deserve the OCD vote to my biased curation practice. Why would something like one picture and 3 paragraph saying you like the anime be worth 5$ at minimum? If you want to frame the post as a review, make it look like a review, pros and cons of the show, what else is going for it that makes it different from the already existing shows of its genre.
I haven’t even started at the lack of engagement some authors have on their comment section. One way to give this community some life is how much other authors are willing to get involved with like-minded authors.
What I’m looking for when curating is something that speaks immediately you are interested in what you’re talking about and are creative at showcasing that in your post. Telling people you like this anime because it looks pretty and expecting a lot of fat votes on it is being unrealistic.
Elaborating why you like it in a matter that you have paid attention to the minor details that make your favorite show look great matters more. Of course I’d have to consider how much effort you’d had to give into the post too. If a post is around 500 words with half being a translation to another language, there’s not much to go on there. Why should it merit a lot of $ and trending visibility when there are other authors that put out more effort somewhere else.
But you’re still going to get a vote for trying anyway~
This is the advantage not taken when users just fail to get the attention they want. In the Anime Realm, it’s easy to get noticed because there are too few candidates to compete visibility with. If I was starting out on Hive, this would have been the community perfect to build a name instead of sporadically bouncing between communities fishing for votes.
The fastest way to get those votes are paying attention to the guides, connect with other users, and try not to do stupid shit like plagiarizing and spamming. Once you get those done, the votes will eventually come along with the consistency to invest your time building this community together.
And let me tell you how much it grinds my gears when I see authors that share their content here have a wide gap between their comments. One can get to post daily or every other day but it takes them months to comment on someone else?
That’s one red flag I avoid when curating even when the content is good. We’re after community retention and supporting users that try to connect with others on Hive.
