Some time ago I uploaded a publication where I shared information of my first encounter with an opossum and how for some years we have had a few, as neighbors, from my perception these animals are quite misunderstood, as I have seen more than one neighbor and acquaintance branding them as dangerous and aggressive.

Now, it is logical that these animals, like any other, bite or defend themselves if they are cornered or attacked, but generally speaking, they choose to stay still and even pretend to be dead, in order to be left alone.

Also, for those who may not know, these animals are pest controllers, they can eat spiders, scorpions, rodents, insects, parasites such as ticks, as well as snakes and lizards, they also eat fruits and vegetables, and help disperse the seeds of wild fruit.

I have seen the latter first hand, since my neighbors often enter or rather lift the plastic that covers the compost to eat the shells of some vegetables that I deposit there, I do not get angry because I know it is their nature, on the contrary, it makes me laugh, since I imagine them insisting to get there.

So last Saturday I had another very close encounter with one of these cute little animals, I know they are not very nice to look at, but as I already mentioned they have a very important function, so while I was transplanting some plants and also adding shells to the compost, I presume that the smell of the shells reached his nose and made him come out, besides I then checked that he is in heat.

I felt the fence rattle and move, I saw one of my cats become alert and when I looked up at the top of the fence there was the specimen you see in the pictures, obviously not fully adult because believe me adults can reach an enormous size.

Certainly, seeing this neighbor during the day was a pleasant experience, and as expected, when she noticed my presence and that of my cat, she remained quiet and as still as possible in an attempt to make us lose interest and move away, I took advantage of her closeness and almost paralysis to take pictures of her, it was the perfect opportunity and there you can see the result, as far as you can see she was a female (I didn't see any pussy), I hope you can enjoy the images, I will mention two hivers that will enjoy these images and they are coquicoin@coquicoin and sirenahippie@sirenahippie.
