The Seamstress
Go ahead and pop that seam I just sewed,
I'll stitch it right back up tomorrow.
I'll never fix you with needle and thread
But I'm sure as hell going to try.
You're so determined to bleed out
That you even pick the scabs on your paper cuts
As if your greatest wounds aren't seeping the life out of you fast enough.
I can't just watch you die,
So I sew.
But a lot of these wounds are drenched in poison,
And there is little I can do.
Still, I absolutely refuse to give up on you.
Decaying flesh can be cut away,
But that's not something I can do.
I just hold the needle that pulls the thread spun from my soul.
There is no blade in me to cut away
At things that don't belong to me.
I know you won't let me piece you back together.
Not even sure I could if I tried,
But don't expect me to just sit by,
And watch your soul die.
