It is our minds that often try to control us in a sense, as there is our mind that we need to survive (making decisions, figuring things out etc) and our actual self that is not our mind. So many of us associate ourselves with our mind and out thoughts, but if we can transcend these thoughts and just be present, it can be transformative. Notice the thoughts and just let them float by and don't let them be you, rather observe them and notice what your mind is saying, which can often be critical or negative in nature. The idea is to remove too much thoughts about past and future and try to just be in the present moment which is all that life really ever is.
Living in a world, where we have distanced ourselves, from one another. Claimed our territory and put up, both physical and emotional walls. Yes we see one another in passing, we interact with others on the streets. But how often, do you actually take the time to be present for someone, to really see them. Feel them, be there for them. Open up your heart to them. I imagine, not often enough.
Great insight and being a good listener is a rare trait these days and is something I try to work on and truly listen to what people have to say. I always used to have a tendency to offer solutions rather than just listening, these days I try to just listen and only offer a solution if asks or maybe ask them if they want to hear about a potential solution or something that might help once they have gotten everything off their chest.
