I did a session for a young man so he could have his studio photo album for his 15th birthday, and at the end of all the protocol, the backgrounds and the most common poses with the most common type of lighting, I suggested taking some test photos with another lighting scheme and against a black background to see if they would stick with any of the photos we were going to achieve. I used a key light on the left and a dimmer light on the right as a trim light and these were the results.
