What is local restaurant? A real local restaurant is never mentioned in travel guides, website, youtube, social media….even local people do not know! But we can taste the real local dishes in such kind of restaurants. Last Friday, I found this restaurant by random search.
It is called 華記食店, literally Wah Kee Restaurant. It’s nothing special for me, but may be special for you.
The restaurant is at an oblique road in Central. Tourists may find it very interesting:
The famous dishes of Wah Kee is Rice with three choices of sides. The feature is the dish is “cheap”. Only HK$38, you can never get this price in Central. So I chose chicken, pork chop and pork rib.
Another feature is the free refill of rice, soup, congee, and sweet soup!
So let’s try. First is the soup. It’s a common Chinese potato pork rib soup. No MSG, the taste is not heavy.
Then it’s the food. I can’t say it’s good, but not bad. Under this price, it’s really worth going.
For tourists, it’s worth trying the real local food not polluted by tourisms. For local, you know that. How to get such a cheap lunch in Central!? Just go.
