I do post about my Full-time job on here because my job involves networking and building relationships with business owners. My plan is to make myself useful enough to these business owners that they trust me and are willing to work with me outside of work. Potentially with Social Media marketing or whatever it is. On the job front, I closed my first sale 2.5 weeks into the new job. An indian restaurant. I was cold calling a ton of restaurants and finally after the 3rd conversation with him, he said I can meet up with him to get a signed contract. Manager came out with me for stop old fashioned door knocking and afterwards I swung by the Indian Restaurant and he signed the contract. Small win and I closed a deal I think the fastest on the team.
Back to my brother's friend. I had a conversation with him on the phone outlining my skill sets, how I've worked in a global digital agency in NYC, and worked with XYZ large brands, etc. He didn't seem to care and just seemed to take my word (i guess he trusts my brother and therefor trusts me). I told him I would be the point of contact, my partner and former co worker who specializes in social media will manage his campaign, and I also tried to sell him on Google adwords which he said can be for later. I'm a trained digital advertising salesmen so I can speak to all these products. As my fulltime job only sells banner ads, when there is an opportunity for one of my clients to pitch them facebook or adwords, i will do so. This all comes from "TRUST" though as no one will want to work with me personally if they don't trust me. Working with my company is totally different that working with me. So anyway, this guy likes to be "sold" and made me put together a presentation back as his auto shop. I went there over the weekend with my presentation introducing the team (me and my former two co workers that I briefly spoke to about a few times partnering up), I went over the products and what he would get out of them. He agreed to the highest spend I asked for $750 a month with facebook and pays me $150/m to manage and run it for him. I told him I would set everything up over the weekend and confirm with him. I took down his credit card info and spent literally 2 hours trying to figure out his passwords for Facebook/Instagram.
I have no clue how to run a facebook and instagram advertising campaign and I called my partner and told him we got our first client and I collected the money. He's never run a campaign either but he works for a digital agency in new york as the account rep who relays all the info to the client. Hopefully he can figure it out. We were supposed to link up over the weekend to setup the account together but he has yet to call or respond to texts.
Small wins guys. Baby steps. Two sales this week but for my business and my job. Hopefully both will be for my business in the future as well.
Hope you guys had a more successful week than me and I will keep you posted!
