Recap of this week's posts by D.Buzz
For the week ending on 1/22/2023 | Vol. 133

What's buzzing, friends?

Let's take a second to realize that humans are an industrious species capable of achieving the seemingly impossible, are we not?

We have harnessed the power of technology to make linking most anyplace a reality, allowing us to traverse the globe in a matter of hours. We have created a global infrastructure that allows people to connect, share, and learn in ways that would have astounded our ancestors. We have taken the world, shrunk it, and brought a new level of convenience and accessibility to our lives.

No matter how far we push the boundaries of technology and science, no matter how many incredible gadgets and inventions we create, one thing remains constant: our need for water. After all, water is essential for life, and no matter how advanced we become, we can never replace that essential resource. We may be able to replicate the taste and texture of water with synthetic substances, but it will never be a true substitute for the real thing. Water is a precious gift, and we must always remember to cherish and protect it, no matter how powerful our technology may become.

This story brings us to the mysterious and alluring island of Bermuda.

Home to stunning beaches, vibrant wildlife, and captivating culture, Bermuda is an oasis of beauty and adventure. But there is something unusual about this island paradise. Unlike other islands in the Caribbean or around the world, Bermuda has no natural water source. This is an astonishing fact, as the island is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, and yet there is no freshwater lake, river, or stream on the island. How did this happen?

Bermuda is actually the result of a massive volcanic eruption thousands of years ago. The eruption was so powerful that it shook and shifted the landmass, leaving the island without any natural water source.

Humans have long been surviving on Bermuda, utilizing the plentiful resource of natural rain water to quench their thirst. This method of collecting and storing rain water has been passed down through generations, and today is still a common practice on the island. It's not uncommon to see people around the island collecting water in tanks, cisterns, and buckets whenever the chance of rain arises. This age-old tradition has been a mainstay for the people of Bermuda, and will continue to be a valuable resource for many years to come.
