Best of Steemit Today: A Smorgasbord of Awesome

Best of Steemit Every Day

Best of the Best Logo

Every day, I bring you eight posts you should think hard about upvoting and supporting. These are quality posts, well written and good examples of the best the community has to offer. Please consider checking them out, and if you agree, love them up.

Wide variety of stuff today. We lead with a really good story, much weight to it, and high quality writing. We have some suggestions for dressing up your posts, some advice, even some Corgi therapy. So let’s get to the BestOf for Tuesday.

Today's Best

Writing (Fiction): My Beautiful Beast by @mcstan09. Man, fiction is hard to find out here in Steemitland. But here’s a good piece, well-written and interesting.

Writing (Nonfiction): Newly-Discovered Exoplanet Has Blown Scientists’ Minds by @sk828. The universe is a truly amazing place. Every day we learn new things about how it works, and what things are in it. Truly, we are only in the beginning stages of understanding what is out there. This is a great post in layman’s terms about a new celestial discovery.

Writing (Craft): How to Post With Markdown: Super Simple Cheat Sheet With Copy and Paste by @scrooger. This isn't specifically on writing craft, but post construction craft. All of us could use some work on this, and this really is a super simple way of dressing up our posts, giving them that professional look that drives upvotes and engages comments.

Steemit community: Steemit Category Choosing Usability by @nickschreuder. As a fellow that posts often, and routinely has no clue what category to choose for his posts, I find this post very interesting and I’d support such an addition to the community.

Introduceyourself: Hi I’m Corgi Therapy From Instagram by @corgitherapy. Innovative introduction, especially if you love Corgis. Or need therapy.

Steem: Can Blockchain Technologies End Wage Slavery? by @kyriacos. Bit of a different take on Steem and blockchain currencies, from a philosophical rather than a financial standpoint. Provocative and well-written, this is a piece that asks us to think about what it means to be a free agent, to have volition and to take action on our own without constraint by employers or other authority--to truly be responsible for ourselves. See what you think.

Photography: Black and White Photo Contest: Love in Milan by @tarazkp. A great photograph, and an introduction to a photo contest currently raging on Steemit. There are literally hundreds of great photos in this contest. Vote for your faves. But start with this one--I admit, it’s not the kind of “love in Milan” I was expecting.

Special Prize: Philosophy 10-10-10 Strategy of Right Decisions by @prettytoon. A really good article with a framework of decision-making that should help us not do so many things that turn out to be stupid. Good writing here, and much to think about.

As always, suggestions for posts to honor are gratefully accepted.

Rules of the Best Of:

I don't like grammar and spelling errors. I make them, but I hate them. Unless the post is supremely brilliant, even a couple of these--especially in the title--will mean it doesn't make this list. NOTE: if you're writing in your second language, significant slack will be given here. When I write in my second language, I'm lucky if I can be understood at all.

Minnows--I am a minnow, and I'm all in on support for the newbies. Doesn't mean I won't curate a whale post, but it's unlikely. If your rating is over 70, you don't need my help (for whatever it's worth).

I don't do porn, however artful.

Original content only.

I take requests. Gratefully. But not for your own work. Push someone else into the spotlight.
