Best of Steemit Every Day: Strong Words From a Lady

Every day, I bring you six posts you should think hard about upvoting and supporting. These are quality posts, well written and good examples of the best the community has to offer. Please consider checking them out, and if you agree, love them up.

We lead with fiction, and have our first repeat, because when you got it, you got it (looking at you, @johnjgeddes). Also check out the strong words on the Steemit community from @tlester. Welcome, and may you prosper.

Today's Best

Writing (Fiction): Gentle Rain Part 1 by @johnjgeddes. Our first repeat Best Of goes to the inimitable @johnjgeddes, and I'll tell you a secret with this one: I didn't know it was him until I had already chosen it as today's best. I try to spread the love, you know, but the quality is what it is. I'll keep looking, every day, but so far, for my money, John is the best fiction writer on Steemit, and you can quote me.

Writing (Nonfiction): Confessions: Our Unschooling Journey by @jrhughes. I'm an alternative schooler--you can see this by by education posts--and I'm always interested in other people's experiences with getting their kids fired up to learn. Good writing, and a good story.

Writing (Craft): Generating Ideas for Writing by @jeffreymartin. I do admit, I don't suffer for ideas. That, however, is not true of most writers, and here @jeffreymartin gives us some good places to go for the ideas that can make our writing sing. Incidentally, if you write, the craft articles are the hardest for me to find on Steemit. I'd be thrilled to give some love to good articles about the writing craft, if you write them.

Steemit community: 10 Steemians I Want to Shout Out To This Week by @businesswri. I love to support those that give to the community, especially those that ask for nothing in return. Here's just such a guy. Give him some love, willya?

Other: A Walk Near the Danube River With Pokemon Go! by @sorinagt. My kids and I played Pokemon Go! for months when it came out. I'll never forget the thrill of taking down that first gym with the son I have the hardest time communicating with. I still think--regardless of the recent success of the platform, that we'll look back at Pokemon Go! as the beginning of something really important in computer gaming. This article reminds us of why.

Introduceyourself: Enjoying Spring In Amsterdam by @misterq. Great photos and views of Amsterdam. A good introduction to a guy I think we're going to have fun following.

Bonus Great Work: Steem Where Are All The Girl Whales? by @tlester.

The title is the question, and the answer is...I have no idea. Most of the Whales I assume are men, though I don't know--they don't notice me (except that one day, @curie)--but I believe that the voices of women are crucial in our conversation. That's true in my home, it's true in my business (my boss is a woman, thank Heaven), and it's true here on Steemit. I'm following @tlester mostly because she can write, and write well, but it doesn't hurt one bit that she's making noise about bringing more women to the table.

Rules of the Best Of:

I don't do grammar and spelling errors. I make them, but I hate them. Unless the post is supremely brilliant, even a couple of these--especially in the title--will mean it doesn't make this list.
Minnows--I am a minnow, and I'm all in on support for the newbies. Doesn't mean I won't curate a whale post, but it's unlikely. If your rating is over 70, you don't need my help (for whatever it's worth).
I don't do porn, however artful.
